Not Quite Right

It's the sensation of something horrible watching him that wakes Sam up from a solid sleep and the first thing he sees when he opens his eyes has his heart pounding like a jackhammer in his chest and an admittedly girl scream not as lodged in his throat as he would have liked. Dean looms over him, face clawed, eye hanging out of its socket, mouth open over fetid breath and rotten teeth.

"Braaaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnnsssss" he moans and the death rattle in his lungs sends a horrifying shiver down Sam's spine.

"Goddammit Dean! Cut it out," he shouts. "It's not fucking funny anymore!" Dean falls back on his own bed proving that yes, it is still funny, by laughing like a crazed hyena and pushing his eye back into the socket.

"Dude, that's never getting old."

"I'm gonna kill you the next time you do that," Sam snaps. Dean pats his shoulder with a mouldering hand in condescending condolence.

"No, you won't, you worked to hard to resurrect me. Not my fault you zombie-fied me on the way up."

Sam, still strung out from bad dreams and Dean's stupid face, snarls wordlessly and storms into the bathroom for a shower.

Halfway across the continental USA, an angel that looks more like a tax accountant peers puzzled at the hole that used to be Dean Winchester's grave. Something wasn't going according to The Plan.
