Title: Inevitable Recurrence

Fandom: Eureka
Characters: Fargo
Summary: Doctor Stark was saying for years that a Zombie outbreak was going to occur.
Rating/warnings: PG
It’s happening again. Eureka is being overrun by zombies. Carter hasn’t realized that having more than two experiments result in zombies within a year’s time is unusual but I’ve lived in Eureka most of my life and know what’s “normal”.
Four zombie outbreaks in a year isn’t normal. Nor is the fact that there have been five outbreaks among the general populous. The UN is trying to keep it quite but as the foremost experts in zombies they’re looking to GD to fix their problems.
Allison has tried to assure them that we’re making progress in finding a cure but I don’t believe her. For years before his death Dr. Stark was saying that a global “zombie” incident was likely to occur if the radioactive isotopes being released into the atmosphere weren’t stopped. It looks like he was right. It’s almost too bad that he won’t be able to see it, since being a zombie requires a body to irradiate, but I bet Allison’s probably glad for that.
She always said that Nathan’s zombie ideas were crackpot theories and I doubt she’s glad to see that he was right. Having his body return to rub it in would be annoying to say the least.
The good news is that the zombies seem to be following Nathan’s predictions and remaining nonviolent. They’re simply shuffling around and spreading whatever diseases their decomposing bodies hold.
It’s disconcerting, but not particularly lethal. Something I’m happy about seeing as the world will probably be overrun with them in the next five years and their likely to stick around until long after I’ve died and joined the zombie throng.
The people of the world will adjust to existing beside the dearly departed before they give up the comforts of nuclear weapons and energy, they're just that stupid.
